The compilers of the "present owner" books obtained the Drivileee to charge the en ormous price of $13,000 for their work through tlie seemingly narnuesa worumg of their contract with the county, viz., that ibev lointlv contracted and agreed to furnish "a full and complete descript ion of all real estate lit Clackamas coun .v " anil that, besides J1500. their re- numeration for this work was to be "15 mills of all real nrocertv discoverd by them not on the assessment roll of 1891." Now a largo proportion ol tlie real estate in the county on. which an nual taxes were being paid was not properly described on the assessment roll. They corrected these numerous descriptions and collected 15 mills on their value from tba county, as the law concerning this matter allowed them to.
