Absent-nil nd cdness has many illustrations, but the uct of a tobacco-clicwer which was told us the other duv, surpasses any yet. A stranger left the Umatilla House and went to flic depot, procured his ticket and came back to the bote! to wait unul the passengers had taken their breakfast. In his forget- fulness the tobacco-masticator had placed the ticket in Ills mouth and used Ills teeth to a good advantage in chewing It into small pieces.
