have a bridge next year, probably about
such a structure as Salem's, the Democrat
will endeavor to keep our citizens posted
about their trials and tribulations, and
perhaps thus enabie this city to avoid some
breakers. The Statesman "says, there are
those in Salem and they are many who
have been carefully watching the con
struction of the big Marlon and Polk
county bridge across the river at Salem,

Thia is not given as a fact, but is gathered

Ingram, for lhe purpose of having a little

last season was too dead even to bury, so

son some of the hop raisers of Fox Valley
contracted their hops at 17 cents, which
was considered a good price then. One of
lhe producers who refused to enter into
any such arrangement was MrBerry, who
w as in the city to-day and sold his crop for

34 cents, a handsome figure. Hops were
