Is i'3 DAILY DEMOCRAT. TUB MAN ABOUT TOWN. There Is a prevailing sentiment In Al hinv Hie Man About Town learn", li favor of working tor Albany and les for tide land districts In other sections of the stale. This is a good city, with brigm prospect i and the live element In It are solid for the advancement of Its interests. The Democrat, by the way, has been universally commended for exposing the tide land tale. Sometimes the rising generation ache io know something about me woriu. t'er haps a dime novel did .t,or the blood and tnuiuler bliie OI me nrwhiii:i mt-iiuuic. Off thev go ; gel more than they bargain ed (or, and return In me; or, continuing, become life long wrecks. The greatest ambition ot a boy should be to do well his part, secure a good education and prepare himself f"r a useful life; not to be a tramp, tin horn gambler or a bully. The old saying that you should do like Romans 'is often well put into force. ot that you should dissemble ; but that you should adapt yourself to surroundings and not pigheadty try to change surround, ings to your own ideas. The Man About Town hears of a brilliant (?) youth from somewhere flse, who says Albany people don't know much of anything because they fall to do everything just the way they did in his former city ; yet the sample indi cates that something is wrong In Denmark and that we must be ahead of the times. The old bear who has been a terror to the stockmen of Jack son, Klamath and Siskiyou counties, has been killed. Jas L Coyli fit Henley.wrltes these particulars to the Yreka Journal : Hilly Wright and a boy natr.ed lienn, killed the celcbiated grizzly "Club Foot,"one day last week, about 7 miles from here. The cattlemen of this vicinity had a bounty of $75 offered, and 1 understand a oountv 01 $100 or more was ottered In southern Oregon. Wright and Hean found his track at 0 a. m., and followed it until noon, when they located him In a thicket of scrub oak, near Diehl Springs. Rocks were rolled down tlie hill, and the bear came out. Euth fired at the same time, and tne grizzly fell, but immediately got up again and started lor me doys. ne goi wmun thirty or fortv feet of them, anil dropped dtad. Ten shots were fired, and all were found in his body, two pasing through his heart, lie measured ten inches between the ears and lS inches from iwse to top of head. The toes were cut off in a trap seven or eight years ago, which gave him the name of "club foot."
