Nesmith Camp White Correspondent Frank Glonning assumed his duties here this week as Chief of Special Services and was pre sented to the Committee of VAVS (Veterans Administration Voluntary Service) where he made a brief talk. He was in troduced by Manager Eugene Ricker. Sunday afternoon. May 16, is the date of the hobby fair to be held in the Camp White hospital. Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. • • • The May 30 Memorial exercises will be held in the VA cemetery. • • » The American Legion Oregon State Commander called on Manager Ricker recently and dis cussed Legion affairs pertaining to Camp White. The state com mander is Dallas E. Nollsch of Portland. Chaplain Henry W. Anderson, one of the spiritual advisors here to 800 men representing 22 denominations, had as his lunch eon guests last Friday members of the Medford Ministeral asso ciation. Thirteen members of the association present were: W. A. Dawes, Floyd Yeats, Vernon Wilcox, Joe Jennings, Weldon Collough, Alvin Delamarter, Clayton Crissman, R. V. Mathew son, Willis Loar, Bob Jones, Per cy Johnson, Captain Johnston and the host, Chaplain Anderson. CENTRAL POINT. OREGON CENTRAL POINT AMERICAN The voters registration at Cadp White is codplete and Mrs. Berth P. Hopkins, cocnK clerk, announced that the registration totals 517 with 195 Republicans, 301 Deomocrats and 21 miscel- laneours. Dust Seal Oil Still Available Road oil to dust seal city streets is still available to resid ents of the city, Street Supt. Art Rupp stated this week. Residents who wish a supply of the oil to dust-proof streets are asked to contact Superintendent Rupp or Mayor Don Burelson. If a group of property owners will schedule oiling on a section of street, the city will contact a man who will apply the road oil for six cents per lot foot. This cost is to be paid by the property owners. LIVELY BIRTHDAY PARTY The home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Billups was the scene of a lively birthday party recently when their three-eyar-old daugh ter celebrated her third birthday by entertaining a group of young friends. PAGE THREE LEAVES FOR CALIFORNIA Floyd Lefler left Saturday. May 8, for San Gabriel. Calif., where he will work with his brother. Floyd has been in charge of the meat department at Fabers Market. Mrs Lefler and Harold will follow when school is out. They plan to re turn by next school term. Sherman Announces Shell Dealership Ward Sherman, owner and operator of the Pine Street Ser vice. announced this week that he has -become a dealer for Shell products through his station. Formerly, the station handled Signal Oil products. Early this week, painters were at work changing the emblems at the station and painting. Sherman leased the station in November, 1952 from Ernest and Lillian Lowry. Letter From Washington— Talent Irrigation Report Presented To Budget Bureau Willow Springs Unit To Hear Wintermore Harris Ellsworth, M. C. 4th District. Oregon Last week I took a copy of the Bureau of Reclamation favorable report on the Talent Division of the Rogue River Irrigation Pro ject down to the executive in the Bureau of the Budget who reviews such projects. Congres sional committees can take no action until favorable report of the Bureau o f Reclamation, which describes the project in detail, is finally printed and sent to Congress as what is called a public document. The new law requires that before this can be done the views of the eight other interested goverment agencies and the Bureau of Budget, to gether with statements from the governors of both Oregon and California, must be obtained and incorporated in the document. This is almost entirely a routine procedure but it takes time. I am endeavoring to speed up this time - consuming operation as much as I can.
