I am now back in England. There is something we don’t like and that is the rain. It rain almost every day. Must close now and ^ill be look ing for those papers. E. Scott, from South America, where she la with her hueband, who le employed by tho government rubber research. Continued from last week Dear Mr. Powell: I am writing you and thanking for the Central Point American you have been sending me. But my main reason I am writing is I heard over the radio of six per sons getting killed from a Japanese balloon bomb In Lakeview, Oregon. That is bringing the war to our back door, and it makes guys like me who are over here worry about you over there. I could go on for pages decribing Rio but better make this more brief. While in Rio I went to the top of Sugar Loaf (Pau de Assucar) but .Mabel was too frightened of the suspenden trolley cars on which you have to ride to get up there It is about 1300 feet high and you take one hanging ear from the ground up t<> the first mountain, called “Urea." Here you find a hotel anl lunch room perched on top of this huge rock. You board another suspenden car and ride to the top of Sugar Loaf where there tire lookouts and a soft drink building. We found ourselves enveloped In u cloud about every five minutes while up títere. You could see the cloud coming and soon you were In the middle of It and in an other minute it went on toward the city and you were out in the sun light. While In Rio Mabel and 1 took the trip I have mentioned to the top of Corcovada (called "Hunch back" in Eugllsh) on top of which Is the statue of Christ, over a hundred feet tall. Took a tiny train consist ing of one engine and one coach and finally reached the top. The train goes almost straight up the side of the mountain. It rained while we were there but we climbed tho hun dreds of steps to the foot of The Chrlstus anyway and it Is well worth the effort. It is magnlficlent. Cor covada is 2300 feet. VISITING MR & MRS. Gamble, National di rector of the tfQJM A War Finance Division and leader of the millions o f v o 1 u n t eers who are sell- in? you the extra War Bonds needed to beat the Japs and com plete the war job in Europe, put the wartime credo of Americans in these 14 words. It's good advice to follow not only during war loans but every day. You can't help too much to win a war. Today's community and na tional war loan totals should re flect your personal determination to see the war through. Regard less of what the War Bond score is today, it is not high enough unless you have gone to bat and bought bonds to the actual limit of your buying power.
