S. Hotel. Jacksonville. The awards were announced by Ben Trow bridge Ir.. chairman of the council Langtord's award was based on “ his participation in public planning on behalf of the com munity which has led to im provement of the physical and cultural environment in which we live ’’ The a'wstxjL to Collins was for "his consistent «nd enthusiastic work on most of the cultural projects that have been undei taken in the Rogue Valley " Among those mentioned bj Trowbridge were his service on the boards of the Oregon Shake spearean Festival Association, the Broadway Theater League and the Art Association, which supports the Rogue Gallery Trowbridge also said Collins hag "played a dynamic role in encouraging the restoration of Jacksonville " Of the award tn l)rs. John Price and Raymond W McNair, Trowbridge said “ this building (designed by Architect Paul Hayden K irk and landscaped by William G. Teufel, noth Se attle). has served as an inspir ation to architects both locally and in other communities."
