Peter Applegate has been engaged by the water committee o f the city council to prepare and submit a report to that body on the most feasable plan for securing an adequate snpply o f water for the town, together with the coat o f the plant. Mr. Applegate was here last Thursday conferring with the com mittee and he expects to have his re port reedy within a few day a Mr. Applegate is a civil engineer o f wide experience, and, being a former old-time resident o f this town, he has a comprehensive understanding o f the general conditions and needs o f the town, which will be o f great benefit to him in getting at the true facta and conditions. AU o f the churches in Central Point celebrated Christmas with Christmas trees and approprite exereises. A t the Baptist church a beautiful tree, well laden with presents, candies, nuts, etc., for the children, big and little, was provided, and prior to the appearance o f Santa Claus an excsllent program was rendered by the children o f the Sunday-school. Appropriate exercises were also held at the Christian church, a chief feature o f which was a wand drill by the chil dren, under the direction o f Miss Mul- key. plenty o f presents, candy and other Christmas cheer prevailed and the occasion was a most pleasant one for ail concerned. An enjoyable entertainment was furnished those who attendee at the M. E. church on Chriinmas eve. The children o f the Sunday-school gave a beautiful Cantata entitled " A Visit to Santa Claus,” in the rendition o f which the children “ covered themselves with g lory ,” showing that they not only possessed talent, but that they had given time and study to its preparation A fter the program loads o f goodies were distributed by old Santa and his family.
