Christmas Football. London Apple Market Centrel Point will have a plenty of football tomorrow, two rattling good games being billed for the local field. The Glendale team will be here to play the Central Point team and, judg ing from reports which have reached here regarding the huskineas of the Glendale men, it is safe to promise a splendid game. The local tesm has been uniformly successful so far this season and the same is said to be true of the Glendale players, so it is fair to presume that there will be somethin’ doin’ when the two teams meet. Another good game is promised be tween the local and Medford High School teams, and, as Medford is said to have strengthened their team since the last game here, it may be expected that the home boys will not have things so nearly their own way as they did in the former game. The two games will prove a big at traction for the afternoon and a record crowd is to be expected in town. W. Dennis & Sons, fruit brokers, of London, in their latest report on the apple market say: “ We have now seen tho first arrival of Oregon Newtowns on this market and have to report with much regret that the quality of tho fruit is infe rior to what it has been jn previous years. It may be, however, that thf earlier arrivals are the greoner fruit and color may be expected with sub sequent arrivals. We sincerely hope this may be so, as the fruit we have seen docs not stand out sufficiently to com mand the attention of the best trade. “ There have been on the market this week 2000 or 3000 boxes of Oregon Newtowns which were considerably fin er fruit than that from your district, notwithstanding which they were sold by our neighbors at the low price of from 9 to 12 shillings per box, a price which, in our opinion, was too low, but which has had the effect of attracting the buyers away from tho lower quality Oregon fruit. We are strongly of opin ion tuhat there is nothing to be gained by forcing sales, and we therefore re frain from pushlug out the stuff at a lower price than that which we think it ought to command. “ The trade for apples continues bad. Supplies up to now have been in excess of tho demand, nnd the market has nev er been clear. Wo cannot think that this can last much longer. Barrel apple stock, both in Ontario and America, is in much smaller supply than has been anticipated while prices in New York and other American towns are such that wo do not think it probable that much of that stock will be soon on this side of the water. This will drive the trade to the boxed fruit, and we expect therefore after the turn of tho new year to see box fruit in much bet ter demand. “ Pears are in very fair demand, one particular variety of Comice meeting with an excellent sale. We have today had a big lot of these Oregon Cornices through our hands, and have sold at prices ranging from 10 to 21 shillings per half box.” Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
