We are told that our informant, Road Engi neer H. S. Wall, was in error about the signer» of the remonstrance peti tion not being legal signers. W. C. Bryant states that practically all of them were free holders reaiding in road district seven, where the propos ed road ia loeattd. A few taxpayers, who are not residents of road district seven, signed the remonstrance on the ground that the proposed changes in the route were useless expenditures of public money. It is further said that the idea of the petitioners was an ob jection to what they thought was un necessary and expensive changes in the royte. No objection was made in the petition to improving the road in its present location. It is further stated, by those inter ested in maintaining the road in its present location, that although the road in queation has been designated as a market road the changes propos ed by the county court were only of record as pertaining to a purely coun ty road and that, if the county court would present the sentiment of the community to the highway engineers and state commission that the changes were not desired by those who mostly travel the road that thia would be agreeable to the engineers and com mission. The Sherman County Fair is less than three weeks distant. The man agement Has done every thing in their power to make a setting for . a real county fair and the outlook was nev er better. Much remains to be done, in fact, everything depends on mater ializing of the plana. Much depends on the people of the county. We want more and better exhibits than ever if possible. We believe it the duty of every man, woman and child to exhibit the best they have in any line or any product for which a prize is offered. Thia creates competition and interest. The entry fee has been removed for thiB year. You can send your exhibit in, or it can be left at points which w ill be designated later in each town and arrangements w ill be made to have these brought to the fair by truck. This arrangement w ill be for small articles only. Mrs. S. H. Arbuthnot is in charge of the womans’ exhibits and has ar ranged for a glass case so that all fancy work w ill be protected from the elements this year. Bring your beat and help make this department one of the strongest. You can do two things to help make things go: Exhibit and Atend.
