To the Catholics of Moro Mission: During m y recent Easter visitation of my large mkwlonary dtotrlot, I announ ced to the various congregations th a t I visited th a t it waa m y Intention to gather In to Wasco on the first of A u gust, or Im m ediately after the harvest- lug season, all the boys of m y whole district of sufficient age to m ake their first oom muniou and to be oonfirmed, and 1 now desire to extend through T he Observer the same Invitatio n to the parents and youth o f Moro and vicinity. I also stated that I would personally bear all the expense of these boys once they came under m y charge. T h a t la, I would board, lodge, train, educate and supply them w ith religious literature, w ith o u tA t^dlar fex^euse to th<9) selves or parents. I remarked to the bAyswith whom I persobally spoke on this subject, that whilst they would sp nd a large amouut of tim e In reli gious tra ln lu g and In" preparation for the reception of the sacraments as above, I would give thgm a good, plea sant tim e and an opportunity to indulge In healthy, boyish sports. I desire It however clearly understood by the parents, and by the boys themselved, th a t I require the boys to know their prayers and catechism fairly well be forehand, so th a t they m ig ht the better profit by the Instructions I shall give them d urin g tfie m onth or six weeks they m ay be under m y charge. The prayers they are to memorize are: T he O ur Father, H a il M ary, H o ly M ary, Apostles Creed, Conflteor, Acts of Con tritio n , F a ith , Mope and C h arity, H a il, H o ly Queen, T he Ten Commandments and the six Itecepts of the church. The age of first oommuniou and confirm ation to from l^n years upwards; exceptioualy w ell Instructed, good brigh t boys, a year younger, m ig h t be permitted to receive these sacraments. O w ing to the fact th a t on the 26th of M ay last, I m et w ith a very severe accident, from the effects of which I am now under the „doctor's care in Kt. Vincents hospital, some may th in k that I have abandoned the Idea of trainin g these boys, as above outlined, h ut I have not. I am more Intent now than ever, as I consider it about the only practical means of accomplishing any good on these w ild misa.uns’ iur the dear boys themselves, and of keeping them and th e ir parents strong in the faith. N o hoy or m an w ill be shut out from this opportunity, quite a number are anxious to come, and the more the merrier. 1 w ill furnish tlue, free, ample accomodations for all, and we w ill feed them well, too. 1 hepe to visit the missions again by the end of J u ly , please God, and m ake personal arrange ments for their propoeed visit to Wasco.
