Mr. and Mrs. Curly DeMoss and family accom panied them to Hartline, Wadh., where they all attended Che wed ding of Miss Patty Jess, a grand daughter of the late Hoy Hugger Saturday, May 26. Mr. and Mrs. G. Houma and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Peters and son, Lawrence, drove to Prosser, Wn., Sunday for picnic dinner and a day of sight seeing. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Ward and nephew, Ronnie Ramey, of Rend were Sunday visitors at the Ora Peetz home to see her mother, Mrs. Echo Bartlett Two bridal showers honoring Imogene Johnson were held this week, one at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Olsen and the oth er held Friday at the Community church with Mrs. Connie Custo ms, Mrs. Genevieve Powell, Mrs. Catherine Thompson as hostesses. Mrs. Alvin Rasmusen is home from Hood River to complete her recuperation from a heart attack tout she remains in bed most of the time. Mrs. Nellie Cushamn left last week for her home in Portland after a visit here with her sister, Mrs. Etta Moore. Mrs. Julia Han son, another sister was a recent guest of her sister also. All friends of Miss Joan Eakin are cordially invited to attend a bridal shower in her honor on June 5 at 2:00 o’clock at the Moro Community church social room. Hostesses will be Mrs. Jennie Martin, Mrs Leta Eslinger, and Mrs. Donald Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sparling have returned from their trip to Massachusetts and Texas to visit their daughters and with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hamon were visitors in Moro Memorial Hay. Clarence found the wheat looking good in Oklaihoma although natives said it was only fair. Neal Freeman was here Mem orial week to visit his mother, Mrs. Edna Freeman, coming from Eugene. Dr. and Mrs W.N.Morse of The Halles spent Memorial day Ihere with her mother, Mrs Etta Moore. Howell was in town Tuesday on a little Judicial business within the county. Miss Edith Paulson took her first and second grade classes to The Halles last week, all 29 of them, and visited the fire station and a radio station where each boy and girl had a chance to speak over a mike. Aiding her were Mesdames Jim Rodda, Kend rick Dunlap, I.eRoy Belshee and Joe Heater. Mrs. i>irgil Archer was honor guest at a stork shower Friday night at the home of Mrs. Bill Hall with Florence Thompson, Jo Gentry and Carol Brisbine as additional hostesses. Nancy Decker was injured at DeMoss Springs park last week as the girls winning letters were be ing initiated. She was taken to a hospital in The Dalles where it was learned she had dislocated an elbow. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Schade- wltz and members of their family were guests of Mrs. Editih Bur net over Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burnet and family joined them for a picnic. Mrs. Joe Himmick of Kenne wick, Wn., accompanied by her mother, Mrs Ivy Morgan, arriv ed Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson. Other memiiers of the family gathered there for Memorial Hay. Mrs. Vi Race is here from her home in Portland to visit with relatives a few days and observe Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ohling of Portland spent the weekend here as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Collis Moore and the two couples drove over Wjieeler county to look at the scenery. Mr. and Mrs. Don Martin and children went to Burns to spend Memorial Day, leaving Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fraser have bought a home in Portland and moved to that city where they are at 3115 SW Underwood Drive. Homer Henriks lost the end of two fingers on his right hand while working at the DeMoss ele vator Sunday. He caught them in a gear that pinched, them off at t)he first joint. A shorted refrigerator started a small fire at the home of Mrs. Edna Freeman Wednesday nignt and brought townsmen out to look for the feeble blaze. M. Franklin home in Rufus. Mrs. Frank Sims and her dau ghter Jackie visited at the Will Huck home May 24. Jackie will tap fiance on the Mothers Hour, channel 6, television program in Portland June 2 at 4 p. m. The Sims are former residents of Ru fus area and are known here. Mr. and Mrs Bernie Rice of The Dalles were callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs Will Huck May 21. Tiie Rufus grange is sponsoring a hard time dance at the hall June 2. Anne Peterson and Nadine L. Grant. F. William Macnab, school board chairman, gave out the di plomas to Walter J. Morrs, Ger ald W. Brackett, Russell I t Blake, Milton J. Frankln, Elaine W. Ea ton. Mr. Hascall then ntroduced awards to tihe different students. Mrs. Franklin gave the Benedic tion and Betty Haven played the Recessional.
