Don Smith arrived in The Dal les Sunday from Bremerton, where he received his discharge from the navy after two years in the ser vice of which one year was spent abroad the Tuscaloosa in the Chi na seas. Mr and Mrs Smith and son, Larry, returned home Mon day. Miss Ossrie Holmes caime up from The Dalles Friday to spend the week end here. She attended the turkey dinner at Kent Sun day. Pfc C. J. Kuhek arrived Satur day from Marysville, California to spend his furlough here with his wife at the home of her par- ents, Mr and Mrs Tea von Bore* -1. Mrs James Easter went to The Dalles Saturday to visit her nus- band at the hospital. Mrs Wren Hogue accompanied her to spend the day on business and shopping. Miss Dorothy Barnett attended thè party in The Dalles Friday tvening for employees of the Pa cific Power & Light company. The Grass Valley Rebekahs sponsored a miscellaneous house hold shower for Mrs Ralph Busse Thursday evening at the I.O.O.F. hall. 9he received many lovely and useful gifts, after* they were unwrapped refreshments were ser ved to about 20 present.
