Huff was hurrying home through the forest when some animal flash ed across the road ahead of his car, followed closely by a deer- Huff’s first thught wu that he had seen a fawn followed by its moth er. But fawns do> not ordinarily lead the family procession even in this unconventional age, he re flected. Stopping his car, h found the doe standing beside a nearby tree and evidently all “fussed up” a- bout something which she failed to isclose. No fawn was in sight. ^.t that moment a full grown < bobcat jumped out of the small pine which the doe was facing and dashed off with the deer in hot persujf. The angry doe pressed the cat so hard that he treed again in less than a hundred yards and the forester had to leave before ; the final round of this strange woodland combat was decided.
