The play was full of surprising and in- eresting situations, dealing with a de faulting banker, whc wishes his eldest daughter to marry a wealthy island owner, whose money he has lost on bad speculations, that he might be spared the punishment that would he meted out to him. The banker’s part was a short one, for no sooner had the match been ar ranged than the banker shuffles off to the undiscovered country. This part was taken by E. L. McCabe, togged out in a costume to suit the occasion. The eldest daughter marries the man who saved the honor of her father and his family, although «bi> is in l?ve with a young physician, who after learning of his sweetheart’s betrothal leaves for the south seas to make a fortune and a repu tation for himself.
