It was a short chase. It led across tbe narrow plain and Into a dense tangle of swamp, where the huskies bad picked their way in aimless wandering until they came out in thick balsam and Bank xlaii pine. Half a mile further on, and the trull broke Into on open which led down to the smooth surface of a lake, and two-thirds across tbe lake wus rhe fleeing ml-ssloner. (To be continued.) News was received here on Tuesday of the birth of a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bur- dett in McMinnville. The ice has moved out of the Columbia river so that people are 'able to cross now with more safety. The committee on resolutions submitted the following report which was adopted: "We, your committee on reso lution.) submit: First, that the interest of the Sunday Schools of Gilliam county is increasing and that we be'.ieve there is more efficient and systematic work being done than in the past. Second. Be it resolved by all in attendance at this convention that we, each and every one, pledge ourselves to make each Sunday Schotl in wheh wa work a Bigger and Better one and that we urgently request that this county send a large delegation to the state conventions at Baker and Oregon City. Be it further resolved that the visiting utlegates extend to the people of Arlington their thanks for the kind hospitality extended while attending this convention." V. W. Whit an I B. R. Weatherford of Olex was in Arlington the first of the week transacting business and he says the wheat does not seem to be damaged. T. C. Mobley, who has been in Arlington for sjme tim since he got injured, left for Olex on Tuesday to look after his work on the ranch. The Riverside Tennis club had a supper and party on St. Valen tine's evening when 33 people were present. It looks like ten nis weather had come again and there will be some games on Sat rday the 22nd. S.
