The Arlington Lumber Co. is erectinjf a warehouse at Roose velt, Wash., which will be com pleted in time to handle this year's crop. The structure is to be 40x100 and substantially con structed. Otto Tschauner returned last week from a month's visit with relatives near Albany. . D. L. Harris, of Gooseberry, was in Condon the first of the week transacting business. MrIary Brown left Monday for a visit with her brother, W. S. Phillips at Izee, near Canyon City. R. D. McMurphy, of .Eugene, who purchased some time ago the Skelly place north of town, was in Condon Saturday to look after matters connected with the ranch and to see that all arrang ements were made for the har vesting. Attorney and Mrs. D. R. Par ker returned last week from a visit at Montavilla. Mrs. Par ker had been visiting for six or eight weeks at the home of her parents. "Booster," the dog, is the happiest creature in town now that the entire family is at home once again. Arthur Schilling left Condon Monday for Olex where he has accepted a position with Wade & Wade. He will have charge of the implement repair depart in 3nt during the harvest season. Wm. Scholtes, the wrestler, who will be remembered -by the lovers of athletics here for hav ing had a wrestling match here some years ago and who later met E. N. Wehrli of Mayville came very near havinsr a fine field of wheat destroyed by fire during the storm last week. Lightning struck the telephone line along his fence and set the grain on fire. Mr. Wehrli thinks that the rain Btarted falling shortly after the bolt struck otherwise the damage might have been serious. District Attorney James E. Burdett has sprung a surprise on the politicians of Sherman coun ty by appointing C J. Bright of Wasco as his deputy for that county. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Hollen . of Pine Ridge have been visiting at Spray during the past week. J. R. Wells expects to begin heading his wheat crop Monday. Mr. Wells said the grain was looking fine and he expects an average of 25 bushels per acre. C. E. Kennedy of the Gilliam Co. Milling Co. was over in the Eightmile country during the past week. Mr. Kennedy says the crops in that section will be well up to the average.
