NEWS OF THE WEEK S. E. Van Vactor of Heppner, W. H. and H. S. Wilson of The Dalles, Geo. Dufur of Portland and Judge Littlefield are attend ing circuit court at Fossil this week. E. Curran was a passenger on Saturday's train for Portland where he expects to remain for a week. His family will return with him. John Snover of Marshfield was in Condon Sunday shaking hands with friends. He attended cir cuit court at Fossil this week. Wm. Wehrli was a business visitor in The Dalles over Sun day. Martin Telefson, head engi neeratthe Gilliam Co. Milling Co., left Saturday morning for a month's visit with friends and relatives in Western Oregon. John and Alex Beard arrived in Condon Saturday evening from over in Washington and at tended to legal matters in Fossil this week. They formerly lived near that place. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Estes left Saturday morning of last week for a visit in The Dalles and Portland. They expect to be gone a week or ten days. Dr. Wood made a flying busi ness trip to Arlington on Satur day of last week. B. F. Pike of Sherman county arrived in Condon on Monday's train. The Lone Rock hotel has again changed hands, Mr. Matthews selling out to R. A. Walkenshaw. Mr. Walkenshaw has, we under stand, had some experience in this business and will undoubted ly conduct an up-to-date estab lishment Mr. Matthews has not decided what line of business he will enter but expects to re main in Gilliam county. Mrs. M. A. Fisher is visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. W. Ebbert C. S. Palmer arrived in Con don Monday evening to spend some time looking after business interests. Richard Scott, Grand Master of the L 0. 0. F came in Mon day evening and attended the meeting of the local lodge. He also visited the lodges in May- ville and Fossil. Albert Austin of Portland visi ted this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Austin of this city. Ranches for Sale Geo.
