Larkin is doing business over in Lexington this week. Coo. Weigel went to Portland Monday to meet some drummers in the men's furnishing line. He will select a large and up-to-date stock of goods. Mr! and Mrs. J. E. Stevens re turned Mondny evening from a few days' visit with Mr. Stevens' parents at Newbcrg. Baker Townlcy of the Home Bakery had to do some repairing to the largo oven and flue the first of the week. The flue had been in bad shape for some time and when Saturday's baking was spoiled, he thought it time that the affair was remedied. The misfortune meant a loss of about j $50. The oven is now working in fine shape. The negro editor who has pre dicted that on November 25th, Norfolk will be visited by a fire, flood or earthquake which will destroy all "liars, hypocrites, 'backbiters and backsliders" will undoubtedly see the necessity of taking something for his liver before the dread catastrophe is due. J. W. Lytle, agent for the Spokesman Review, was in Con don a few days this week solicit ing subscribers for that paper. As an incentive he gave - with the paper for one year, a fine map of the Pacific Northwest, all for one dollar. He secured about GO subscribers. The big threshing machine from Fendleton, which has been threshing east of town, finished its run in that teritory this week and after overhauling and re pairing the machine thoroughly the outfit was moved to the J. K. Fitzwater ranch in Ferry Canyon and will help finish the large amount of threshing yet to be done in that section. - A. A, Anderson, of Lost Valley transacted business in Condon a few days this week. J. B. Eddy, right-of way Agent for the O.R. & N with headquar ters at Portland, was in Condon Wednesday and Thursday look ing over matters connected with his office. Mr. Eddy was former ly proprietor of the Forest Grove Times, so called on the Globe force to meet former acquaintances. Lost A pair of rimless specs, probably near post office. Miller of Gooseberry was a Condon visitor last Satur day. , , Miss Nell Welsh, of Arlington, visited at Banker Hurlburt't over Sunday, while en route to Fossil where she spent a few days with relatives. The census bureau is author ity for the statement that there are about 20,000,000 women over the age of SO in the United States. It may be true, but we can't help wondering how the bureau found it out Brandcn-Wilktrte. Miss Rosie Wilkins of Ferry Canyon was united in marriage to John P. Brandon of Trail Fork, on Saturday, November 2, at seven o'clock at the home of Justice Wheir. The young peo ple will make their home in Ferry Canyon. The Globe joins their large number of friends ' in wishing them the best of success and happiness. Dead. ' The funeral of Edward Morgan McDaniel, the two year old son of Mr. and Mrs.' Ed. McDaniel of Matney Flat was held at the grave in the Mt Moriah ceme rery on Monday afternoon. The services were preached by Rev. G. W. Riggs of the Congrega tional church. COMING! Something..
