A series of meetings will begin at the
llaptlst church next Sunday. Elder J.
W. Mount will do the preaching after
Monday evening. Regular services Sun

The Arlington Record reports a fine
flow of artesian water has been struck
In the oil well near that place. That is
not what the company wants, however,
s all the water that may be needed can
he tonnd in the Standard Oil Co.'s oil
the kind we all try to burn. Water Is to
be expected In any deep well however.
A meeting of the resident stockholders
of the Rossland Consolidated Mining Co
was held here Monday evening to hear
a report from C. L. Howe who returned
Bnturday from ft visit to the mine. The
report was not made public but the
stockholders express themselves as well
aaiislled with Mr. Howe's investigations.
If. II. Little has purchased Elgin My
vis' confectionery and Biuce taking po-
nusslon has been busy renovating and
remodel; ng the place. New paint and
paper add much to the appearance of
the front room and the rear room is to
be cut up into smaller rooms and fur
nished us ice cream and lunch parlors.

making an effort to push the eale of
these machines just now on account of

soon as the conditions are favorable he
w ill be on the road again. In the mean

the same by calling at his home it. this
city.
C. L. Rowe returned Saturday from
a trip to Northport, Washington. While
at tlie latter place he visited the mines
in which a number of Condon people
are Interested, The information he
gained was for the benefit of the stock
holders and lie would not mnke any state
ment for publication regarding that
mine. He says, however that North
port is situated in the heart of an ap
parently rich mineral country and many
mines are working and shipping ore
rijflit along.

An Impromptu debate will be Indulged
In tomorrow evening on the state or
federal control of the trusts. Key Healy
end M. D. Carter will be. the principal
speakers.
The society, will meet every Friday
evening and will no doubt prove of much
benefit to the participants. Condon has
long needed some such organisation to
bring the people together for an Inter
change of Ideas and we hope to see this
effort crowned with success.

Death of Mrs. Gullette.
Mrs. Maud F. (Juliette, wife of Dr. J.
F. (Juliette, formerly of this place, died
at the Uood Samaritan hospital at Port
land, on the 20th, Inst. Deceased, was
about 30 years of ago. She was well
known here and a large circle of friends
will mourn her untimely death. Dr.
tiullette has bad more than his share of
trouble during the last few years and the
sympathy of many friends will be ex
tended to him in this hour of sorrow.
W. 8. Myers has bought W. C. Cald
well's property on the West side. The

At the January term of the county
court it was decided to build $10,000
court house Judge Dunn and Commis
sioner Froman voting for it and Mr. Dy
er opposed. As we understand Mr. Dyer
opposed building on the ground that the
people of the county voted against build
ing it at the June electipn, when this
matter was submitted to them. We hear
some talk of remonstrating againat build
ing, by the taxpayers of the county.
While we think the court should have
abided by the vole of the people in June
yet with the prosperous condition of the
people it w ill be as easy matter to
build now as it will ever be again.
There is no reasonable doubt but that
the county seal will always remain at
Condon and that being the case Gilliam
onght to have a court house Arlington

Ham county and who served aa deputy
sheriff here nmler Sheriff Sanderson has
been appointed Warden of the Idaho
penitentiary by Governor Morrison. Mr
Perrin left this county about eight years
bko removing to Wardner, Idaho. He
has always been an active republican
and tins been handsomely rewarded for
his past fealty to his party. The War
