A. - TilE GGilDOi! GLOBE FRIDAY, APRIL 8. 1S92. THE OFFICIAL. PAPER OF GILLIAM COUNTY. OREGON. Circuit court convenes Monday next, April 11th. The docket is unusually large for this term, that published elsewhere not being much more than half the business that will come before the grand jury. Notwithstanding the long docket, it is very probable that Judge Brad shaw will dispose of all the busi ness in one week. He is noted for the very prompt and efficient man ner in which he discharges his oflieial duties. This Judge is un-l imstakably a friend of the tax payer. . He permits no unnecessary ut iajr iu wui i iJi wcciuiigo, uu u;i t. i; j , i . v 4 While he listens attentively to What .i ," ,j j the attorneys have to Say, and ex- l,;u: .,..4 IllbltS every needful COUrtesy, yet i ,:ui. .,:.. :J ll he invariably waives aside all Un- ' , , i , necessary quibbling and proceeds u rri,;. : With the Case at hana. 1 hlS 18 T t i u Tight. Unnecessary lntermiSSlOnH j r . i during a session of circuit court are t.U.( ktt 1,,..,.! and they usually have enough to bear in the way of financial bur dens without being weighted down with unnecessary matters of the kind mentioned. Every fair-mind ed man who has at heart the best interests of his community, endorses Judge Bradshaw's style. Our effi cient Prosecuting Attorney, W. H. Wilson, also deserves much credit for the promtness with which court matters are dealt with, and wastes no time unnecessarily. He also understands his business thorough ly, and is eminently qualified for the important position he holds. The parties who are so earnest in the work of trying to - leave the impression that no water can be found in North Condon will be somew hat disappointed when they learn that at W. L. Barker's : new residence near the school house, tw o feet of good water has been reached within seven feet of the surface. It is of the very best quality too clear as crys tal and as cool as mountain spring water. It is just the proper distance and night to build a large reservoir somewhere near the school bouse and thus establish a water works system for our town Steps of this kind should be taken at once and the entire city could then be sup plied with good, pure water, free from the nauseating drainage from all the stables, outhouses, - etc., the drainage from which is extremely unhealthy. The Globe is very anxious to see the town grow and thrive, no matter which direction. Let every one build where it suits them best. We earnestly hope to see all our people unite as one in the up building of our town. "In Unity There is Strenth." "A house that is divided against itself cannot stand." Let us all remember this. Nothing is so detrimen tal to any town as to be divided into a number of different factions, all pulling 1 a different direction, and no earthly ob ject in it, except to contrary each other. It only keeps enterprising people and capital away.: No stranger cares to lo cate in a town where such a state of jan gling exists. ; The Ulobe is just as anx ious to see one part of the tow n build up as another, and we want to see all our citizens take the same view of it. It is the town of Condon, anyway, no matter where the building is erected. Postmaster-General Johe Wanamaker, the successful Philadelphia merchant, says that during the ten days previous to Christmas bis sales covered (100,000 a day, so that the grand total for ten days was only a few dollars under a mil lion. He adds : "I spend $5,000 a week 'in advertising. ml J pay a .,,sa - or. mer editor and a good one) $600 a month to do it for me. I make money by it. Advertising is the leverage with which my store baa been raised up. I do not see how any successful business can be done without liberal advertising." Ex. On March 28th, Mrs. C. K. Smith, liv ing near Helly Springs, Miss., gave birth to six babies, all being well developed and weighing in the aggregate of forty five pounds. The mother and babies are doing well. They have been named Lee, Jackson, Van Dome, Grant, Sherman and But:!). If Gilliam bad such produc tive soil, we would soon be able to cast a routing vote .: One of the funniest things about hu man nature is that some men when they stop their paper, imagine it will be im pocsible for the publisher to continue in business without their patronage. They dou't think that one subscription iH, in coinparason, about the game as taking one drop out of a barrel of wer while jl its ruining into it. Ex. y.
