After the program the school was escorted to the community hall near the school house, where a surprise was awaiting '.eia in the form of a Christmas tree. Bex Denney, who was confined to his home ' during the recent snow storm by tonsuitis, resumed his stud- tes at Lincoln High, Portland, on Monday. The Whitford Women's Commun ity club was organised on -Dec. 4, with fourteen charter members: Many more are expected to join. They meet the second and fourth Thursday afternoons of each month. January 8 is the next meeting day. The improvement of the community hall in which they meet is to be the first real work uz toe club. Mrs. Lous Rice expects her chorus of young people to meet regularly for practice from now on tnrougn tne winter. There are between 2oand 30 in the chorus. They serenaded the community and Garden Ho:ue with Christmas carols on Xmas eve. Miss Ivy Peterson, who has been spending her vacation with her fath er and sister, John Peterson and Miss Jessie, returned to Hunford, Wash., on Friday. Miss Peterson is principal of the high school at that place. Miss Edith May spent Xmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. May. Mr May recently bought the J. M. Davis place. Mr. Carl Olsen passed away at the home of his parents on Wednesday evening.
