' CHAS.E. BARNARD Beaverton Oregon. To the Editor: It seems like imposing on good nature to ask for more space in your paper to continue this con troversy, but in order to further explain my views regarding our town I will say that I am a mem ber of the Chamber of Commerce and was one who supported the petition of that body to the city council as mentioned by Mr. Hedge and if there is anything im ray previous -communication which signifies that I am satis fied with the present condition of our citv. I will have to admit that my knowledge of the Eng lish language is quite inefficient. In this town we have the aver ase "small town" problems to contend with. W are too large for a ."'cross roads" settlement and not large enough for a city and we are -obliged to make the best of just what we are. If "Long Suffering Taxpayer" is really in earnest in his desire to help the town, I will suggest a manner in which he may con vert all his energy into efforts along the lines which he advo cates. The mayor-elect and at least three of the councilmen have expressed to me their will ingness to resign in favor of "Long Suffering Taxpayer". if he will come forward with the proper qualifications. . In this way it will not be necessary for him to wait a year to start his "clean up campaign." Real Taxpayer. Editor Times; ' ". , - Since reading in your recent issues, the interesting letters signed "Long Suffering Tax payer" and "Real Taxpayer," it has occurred to me that much good might , accrue to the com munity if the efforts of these two taxpayers could be expended harmoniously toward the im provement of oar town. With this object in view and to the end that hostilities may cease, I venture to offer to act as intermediary between these two belligerents. li actuated by sincere mo tives, my name may be secured from the editor, by either of you and after having secured my name you are to feel free to con suit me, regarding the settle- ment of your differences,, with full assurance that unless satis factory terms can be arranged, the names of the parties, to the controversy will not be divulged. Give this a thought," M Tax payer" and Jet us get together ior the good of our community. I also extend to each of you-an invitation to become a member of the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce. .
