M. and John Gillis bave finished a contract for toilding and repairing wheat warehouses, on tbe Pasco-Pendleton branch of the Northern Pacific Mias Alta Sharp went over to Walla Walla ob tbe noon train, and will he joined this evening by Miss Carrie. They will visit friends and attend the carnival. Frank Gagnon baa been granted a divorce !from Victoria Gagnon. By the court's decree Mrs. Gagnon Is to receive $825 iu lieu of alimony and surrenders all claims to share in Mr. Gagnon'a personal or real property. Le Grow arrived' home Wednesday from a two wealm visit: with relatives at Boise, Idaho. Mrs. Le Grow was very much pleased with her first visit to tbe inland city. C. G. Hayzlett. Joseph Henderson, employed iu the pox factory at the Blue Mountain saw mill, above Weston, had one of his bands caught iu tbe machinery and badly mangled, Wednesday morning. The unfortunate man lost four fingers. Mrs. Wm. McBride left this morn ing for a fortnight's visit with her father and brothers atSbippen, Idaho. The aged father is iu very poor health and it is probable that this will be a farewell visit paid bim by his daugh ter. ' Agnes Ferguson versus M. A. Fer guson and Agnes Ferguson versus C. S. and N. E. Ferguson are the titles of two aotions for money commenced yes terday in the circuit court. Miss Wall was a saleslady in tbe Mosgrove Mercantile Co's. store some months ago, and has since been employed in Pendleton. While waiting for an electric car at MoMinn'B crooing on the state line, Monday night, John Yost fell asleep on tbe track. The car knocked bim aside, and John was pioked up and taken to a hospital in Walla Walla. It is thought bis injuries are not fatal. Tribune: Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Whee ler, the pbolographers, have returned from having spent the summer in New York, Chicago and other cities of the east. Pendleton Tribune: While driving from Cabbage bill yesterday morning, Ed Myers and family had a serious runaway accident which might bave bad a fatal termination. As it is, Mr. and Mrs. Myers are both badly bruised and one of tbe children has an ugly cut 01 mitt on tbe face. Mr. Frank Hyde and Miss Mina b were married at tbe borne of tbe bride near Pendleton, Wednesday evening. About 50 guests were pres ent among them being Mr. and Mrs. George Dunlap and Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Kiik of this city. Mr. Hyde is a nephew of Mr. Kirk. Orange Chamberlain came over from Cambridge, Idaho, Sunday. He says tbe country there bas a bright outlook. although of course settlers have to suffer tbe usual drawbacks of a new country. Mr. Cbamberlaiu has just commenced the erection of a comfort able farm house on his land there. Mr. and Mrs. Mais Cbristensen. who call themselves Apostolic din ciples of Christ, have opened an as eembly ball in the MoArtbur building on Mam street and will bold a series of meetings. Tbey set forth a claim that when the spirit moves them tbey ban talk any language. Tbey belong lo a sect that is called in newspaper parlance under title of "tangled tongues." ' ; Miss Mae Hendercoa, who so success fully nursed Mrs. P. E. Colter n through a dangerous illuess some months ago, was a guest at tbe Col bern home Friday. Miss Henderson bad been staying at the Hill farm north of town in Her capacity as nurse. Last Friday was tbe anniversary -of rs. Wm. Tompkins' birtb, and while the ladies of tbe M. E. Aid sooiety were at work at tbe cburob parlors, she surprised them by producing 'an elegant lunch, prepared by herself in honor of the oooasion. After the reg ular routine work was accomplished, the refreshments were enjoyed by all present, who heartily joined iu wish ing her many happy retnrns of the day. John Van Slyke bas returned to Weston from a visit with bis father at tbe Walla Walla hospital. He reports tbe old gentleman to be in a hopeful state of mind witb good enoouragement from the attendant dootors of bis ulti mate recovery from his collision with a railway train. The company have agreed to pay all expenses without carrying the case into tbe courts for settlement. Mrs. Dr. J. Franklin Coon of. Walla Walla visited Drs. Heisley this week. Mrs. Heisley returned to Walla Walla witb her mother. Tbe doctor will leave tonight and will return with Mrs. Heisley Sundav. Post master Gitbens bas made a change in bis office which will give much needed room in bis stationery department Miss Esnia Sawtelle, a well known Pendleton young lady was united in marriage last Wednesday evening to Mr. Ralph B. Wade, in Los Angeles. Tbe bride is a sister of R. M. Sawtelle a former Athena business man and the groom is a son of C. B. Wade, ex cashier of tbe Firs'. National Bauk of Pendleton. ----t,"? Miss, Ella Boober left for - Milan Wash., Wednesday, in response to a telegram announcing the serious illness of Eva, tbe eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. James Feeler. The little girl died Thursday morning, and friends of the family in this city extend the sor rowing parents their deepest sym pathy., ; j-V-. ', - )Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Pinkertou came up from their home in Crook county last wees and spent several days in this vioinity visiting relatives and friends.
