Miss Alan McCaw, of Walla Walla, has been the guest since Friday, of Miss Koseazweig, returning home today. Miss LeBrun is now ready to take in ail kinds of sewing at Grandma Mans field's, next door to Mr. A. L. Jones'. "Your Neighbor's ife," a comedy drama, will be produced at the Athena opera house, Tuesday evening Feb. 28. Mrs. Talbert, of Milton, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Stone, yes terday and returned home this morning. Mr. and Mrs. John Foss left last even ing for their home in Moro, Sherman county, after a pleasant visit with rel atives in Athena. Mrs. O. C. Beck went down to the farm home of her daughter, Mrs. Ctia. Nelson, near Pendleton Friday where she will visit for some time. Mr. Beck is trying his hand at baching during her absence. Henry Barrett made a trip to the Piqe creek ranch recently and reports that cattle are doing finely down there since the change in the weather. Mrs. M. W. Smith entertained her music class Saturday afternoon. Re freshments "were served and a pleasant time was had by those present. The Friday Afternoon club, will meet at the home of Mrs. D. B. Jarman, Fri day at 2 p. m. All members of the club are requested to be in attendance. Mrs. Louis LeBrache has recovered from a severe spell vt sickness, and in company with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Wright, made the Press office a call Saturday. Seattle this week is entertaining Washington Elks. D. H. Preston, of this city, who is a member of the Walla Walla Lodge B. P. O. E., is in the Sound city as a delegate. number of the local K. of P. boys went down to Pendleton last evening to attend a meeting of the Pendleton lodge, the occasion being the observance of the anniversary of the order. Miss Mytalene Fraker of Pendleton, will be a guest of Mrs. J. D. Plamondon this evening. Miss Fraker, who is pos sessed of a fine contralto voice, will sing tonight at the Christian church. The infant son, aged about four months, of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Zerba, died at 11 o'clock last night, after sev eral days' illness with pneumonia. The funeral will take place tomorrow. VHarry Dupuy, who successfully staged last summer with local talent, will put on "Do You Know" with Weston talent, tonight at the Weston opera house. Mr. Davison has been taking treatment from Pendleton physicians, but without result. Will Wells, proprietor of the "Cor- er" saloon, was fined $50 in Justice Chamberlain's, court yesterday on a charge. of gambling. The complaint was sworn to by H. Potter a tailor. Potter, Peter Mclntyre and C. H. Sherman were called as witnesses. L. A. Githens, agent for Edison pho nographs and records, is in, a position to quote exceptionally low prices on the the different grades of machines of the Edison make. Mr. Githens always has phonographs on exhibition and is pre pared to give information at any time. Weston Leader: Mrs. Mary Z. Hicks, for 25 years a resident of Weston, de parted this life Sunday morning, Feb ruary 12, 1905, at her late home in this city. : Rheumatism, from which she had been a patient and constant sufferer for the past twelve years, was the cause of death. NtNick Taitenger is down from Alberta and will remain in Athena for a few days. Nick has nothing but good words for Alberta, 40 degrees below zero ap parantly having no terrors for him. He gives a favorable report of crop pros pects and says stock is sleek and fat on the winter range, where nutritious wild grass furnishes an abundance of feed. "Bob" McGrew, retired druggist and amateur rancher, was in town yesterday from Weston. One of the principal products of Mr. McGrew'a ranch will be iced buttermilk. The Press man ac knowledges an invitation to come over and indulge in a few quaffs of the de licious beverage, with the stipulation that we are not to bring Wood along. Weston Leader: Mrs. J. II. Logan, for many years a respected resident of this community, died at a late hour Thursday evening from pneumonia, at her home near Weston. The funeral services were held at her late residence Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Logan leaves a husband in bereavement who has been seriously ill for several months. One son and two daughters also survive. XFred Rosenzweig, with bis daughter, miss Elsa Rosenzweig, and Miss Nettie Cannon, will leave on tonight's mixed train for Eltopia, Wash., for a short so journ on their farms there and a visit with the other members of the family who are living on the homestead. The young ladies will return Sunday even ing to resume their duties in the public school and Mr. Rosenzweig will prob ably remain a couple of weeks. Gospel Meeting!. Revival services are in progress at the Christian cburch. J. B. Lister, of Eugene, was called here to do the preaching. The attendance and the at tention are most excellent. Tonight Mr. Lister will speak on "The Atonement." This is the greatest thing in the Gospel, and should be understood in as great a measure as possible by all. Everybody is cordially iuvited to attend. There will also be 250 p. m. services. While the work is being done let every inter ested person come. J. W. Jenkins, Pastor. Items in Brief.
