"Kiry," we do not presume to know, and the date of his election to the vice-presidency of the bank is not given. One order for 100, 000 barrels in particular has been men tioned for three successive days. Con sidering the fact, says the Oregonian that not a ton of space has been engaged by the Minneapolis shippers on any f the Oriental steamers, and the further fact that Japan is refusing to buy flour, even at reduced rates, the Minneapolis report is not taken very seriously. It may be that the shippers are figuring on sending the flour by wireless telegraph, but this is not believed to be a satisfac tory solution of the mystery surrounding the vast sales that have been made since the enterprising dreamers began smok ing up. Harry Egbert, the Harney county killer, will jump off at Salem January 29th if everything works right. He rode horses, packed a gun and emulated Billy the Kid in other ways. He has danced, and will now settle with the orchestra.--Union Republican. . A war between Russia and Japan would make any hostilities between the United States and Columbia looks like a 10-20-80 affair. Tennessee negroes have organized a political party against the use of cocaine. It is to be hoped nobody will stuff the ballot box. Will that scientific organization which is going to fight New Jersey mosquitoes use magazine rifles or just ordinary shot guns? Senator Clark has had an operation on his ear.
