Dear Editor:— For those not familiar with the Pacts, "sealed beam’ ’ is. today, really a generic term, defining the radically new- type of lighting system which has become standard equipment on the 1940 models of abnost every make o f car. Sealed beam t lighting is not the product, nor ■ the trade or product name, of any particular manufacturer. Though sealed beam lighting j offers many advantages over the old type of lighting, and though it is, in many respects an Im portant step towards safer driv ing at night, it does demand pro tier and intelligent us on the part of the motorist, particularly in the se o f the "passing beam” when approaching other cars. 1 had some hesitancy in tur ning out this issue of the cai- toon series for fear that the above polrts might not be cle<ar. However. the subject of head- lighting is such a vital issue In the problem o f night traffic saf ety that I felt it could not be overlooked. — Edward M. A direct assault is being made on private credit. Government lending agencies by the score are steadily distributing millions upon millions o f dollars to fa r mers, home-builders, business, at terms no private citizen can compete with.
