However, we were privileged the other evening to be invited to a private show ing of a production which we feel is im portant enough in every respect to m erit our con sideration here. The film is “The Red M enace,’1 an outspoken indictm ent o f Com m unist in filtration into America, produced by Republic Studios. The story relates the tria ls and tribulations of one w ayw ard boy, Johnny Barrows, brilliantly por trayed by R usty Tam blyn, m al adjusted because of a home con dition involving a step-father. Sneaking into the Cleveland M u nicipal Stadium fo r one o f the W orld Series gam es betw een the Indians and -the Boston Braves, he is discovered by the ball players and a local radio sports announcer, George B rent. “ The Kid From C leveland” is notew orthy fo r m any things. The baseball episodes fe a tu re real players perform ing as they a c tu ally do on the field. The dram atic episodes make little concession to Hollywood artifice. In addition to B rent, Miss Bari and M aster Tam blyn, th e cast in cludes Ann D oran, Louis Je a n H eydt, Tommy Cook and K. Elmo Ixtwe. W atch Repairing See ). L.
