Evans stopped off at Grants Pass Wednesday in the Interest of the extension division of the Oregon Agricultural college. He left in the afternoon for Klamath Falls and will return here next week. Mrs. Porence DotBon of Tacoma, formerly a resident of Grants Pass, arrived here last week to. visit her brother, Uj;au Wooldridge, and oth er relatives and friends, expec ting to stay some, weeks. Monday night she received a wire stating that her mother was seriously ill, and she left for Tacoma Tuesday morning. R. E. Wood of Omaha, general freight agent of the Union Pacific system, arrived In Grants Pass Tues day morning, Mrs. Wood and two children, and Mr. Wood's father, having preceded them. Mr. Wood Is somewhat Interested In this section. The elder Wood Is 91 years of age and enjoys traveling as much as a young man. The present trip has occupied several months. The trio are all delighted with the beauty of the lake and with the scenery of the upper Rogue country. Mr. Rosa is Interested in timber lands in the coast country, and Is a booster for the proposed railroad from the Coos bay country to Grants Pass. Counts returned Sat urday from a hunt on upper Wil liams creek. They did not succeed ln finding the big buck they were af ter, the big fellows yet being ln the brush country away from the flies, but they saw numerous smaller deer, mostly does and fawns. They also saw one bear, the shots that were put after it doing no injury except to the landscape, and caught plenty of fish to conserve the bacon supply. They went by auto to a point above Stevens, on the road to the caves. After a brief service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blodgett, at Williams, the funeral cortege re paired to the church building nearby where a large concourse of neigh bors had assembled to pay their last tribute of loving regard.
