M. O. Evans stopped off at Grants
Pass Wednesday in the Interest of
the extension division of the Oregon
Agricultural college. He left in the
afternoon for Klamath Falls and will
return here next week.
Mrs. Porence DotBon of Tacoma,
formerly a resident of Grants Pass,
arrived here last week to. visit her
brother, Uj;au Wooldridge, and oth
er relatives and friends, expec ting to
stay some, weeks. Monday night she
received a wire stating that her
mother was seriously ill, and she
left for Tacoma Tuesday morning.
R. E. Wood of Omaha, general
freight agent of the Union Pacific
system, arrived In Grants Pass Tues
day morning, Mrs. Wood and two
children, and Mr. Wood's father,
having preceded them. Mr. Wood Is
somewhat Interested In this section.
The elder Wood Is 91 years of age
and enjoys traveling as much as a
young man. The present trip has
occupied several months.

conclave of the Knights Templar. Mr.
Jewell is deputy grand commander of

of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Blodgett, at
Williams, the funeral cortege re
paired to the church building nearby
where a large concourse of neigh
bors had assembled to pay their last
tribute of loving regard. The theme
of the address was "The Believer's
Blessed Hope and Comfort, the Death
and Resurrection of Jesus Christ."
At the close of the service the
body was Interred in the Gotcher

Thos. Thomson died at his home;day of age, and was

Judge Jewell and family, who have
been camping at the Bybee springs
about 15 miles above Rogue River
on Evans creek, returned to their
home In this city Friday. The Judge
was taken with a sudden and a rath
er severe illness on the way home,
and leaving the rig at Rogue River,
came down on the motor. He was
much improved Saturday, however,
and was at bis office at the court
