C. Lovett meets with them and Everitt Brown puts th'm through the manual of arum. Fourteen boys hare already enrolled and others will do so soon. New methods will be used ami more careful attention will be given this important work in the future than in the paHt. Tuesday afternoon the Women's Foreign Missionary society of the Newman M E. church met in the par lors of the church, to take up their new "Christus Redemctor, or the Isles of the Pacific" course in mis sions. E. church, South, is at Boseborg, this week, in attendance upon the meeting of the Colombia Conference. Mrs. 0. 0. Presley and Mrs. M. E. Moore are also there to attend the sessions of the Women's Home Mis sionary Society, which convenes at the same time and place. Preparations are being made, on a large scale by the Grants Pass Salva tion Army corps of the observance of the annual Harvest Festival celebra tion which will soon be given by this most worthy organization. Full particulars as to date, place and the like will soon be announced. Luc-us, Archer, Coe and Jewell. Delicious refeshments were served and vocal selections by Mrs. W. W. Walker and Mis. W. E. Willi" added much to the pleasure of the occasion. Special 'missionary collections were taken Sunday by both the Sunday school and, Epworth League of the Methodist church, booth, Sunday. The churches of Medford have nnited and are holding rousing meet ings in the movement to rid the city of saloons. The sentiment is growing and if the work is pushed as it is now being done, that town will doubtless soon be among the "dry" places of Oregon, which are growing in number right along. .The Bethany Presbyterian Endeavor- era had a most delightful time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Pardee, Fri day evening, when they hold their regular business and social session. Out of a membership of 200. the First Christian church of Grants Pass now has no less than 50 members who are giving a tenth cf all their earnings to carry on the work of the qharch. Can it be wondered st that this com paratively new organization is ex periencing such a remarkable growth and develop ment. The C. E. society of the first Christ ian church is making plans to organ ize Sunday schools in the places near to the city, where there are no inch organizations in existence. Rev. C. O. Bookman's many friends, both in and out of the Newman M. E. church will be rejoioed to know that be has been returned to this charge for another year. He"will now enter npou his ' third year's labors with very encouraging pronpects for a fine year's work. Sunday the Newman Sunday schnol reached its high attendance mark thus far, this season, 237, being just 130 more than for the corresponding day, last year. Superintendent H. L. Oilkey is regarded as one of the best and meet successful officers in this position to be found anywhere. He is just the man for the place and his efforts are being crowned .with great success. MRS.
