Photos by Cindy Yingst Mark Schneider, who spit out his berry after biting into a sample. “I like sour things, but it was way too sour,” added Jeremiah Ayers. Jackson Baker liked the berries and swallowed his. “I think they’re very sour,” Shelby Brown said. “I like the juice, though, and other things made of cranberries. I think this trip is exciting and fun.” Dan Bogh grew up work- ing on his parents’ cranberry farm and his mom, Jean, still has a four-acre farm across the street. The couple bought their large boggy property five years ago. “It’s a hard life, especially since the price of cranberries is down now,” Trinda Bogh said. “But we’ve loved it,” Jean Bogh said. The Bogh farm, and four others in the area, belong to the Ocean Spray farm- er-owned cooperative. The 90 students who visit- ed this week got to see what cranberry bogs look like, watch cranberries being har- vested and got to sample the unprocessed fruit. Trinda Bogh told the stu- dents to remember the ber- ries that made their glass of Ocean Spray cranberry juice may have had their start in Warrenton. Cranberries are harvested from September to Novem- ber.
