February 23, 2018 T he C olumbia P ress 7 AGENDA Warrenton Urban Renewal Agency February 27, 2018 – 6:00 p.m. Warrenton City Hall – Commission Chambers 225 S. Main Ave. Warrenton, Or 97146 NOTICE OF SHERIFF’S SALE Courtesy ODFW Marbled murrelets to be add- ed to state endangered list. State must craft plan to save sea bird The marbled murrelet, a frequent visitor to Clatsop County waterways, will be re- classified as endangered. Oregon’s Fish and Wildlife Commission voted last week to move the small seabird, which nests in older forests, from threatened to endan- gered under the Oregon En- dangered Species Act. The more rigid classification affects lands owned, managed and leased by state agencies, but has no direct impact on private landowners. Staff at the Oregon Depart- ment of Fish and Wildlife will develop survival guide- lines on state-owned, man- aged and leased lands for the commission to consider at its June 8 meeting in Salem. Survival guidelines are de- fined as quantifiable and measurable and deemed nec- essary to ensure the survival of individual members of the species. They will serve as interim murrelet protections until affected state agencies develop and adopt endan- gered species management plans. Also last week, the Commis- sion heard an updated status report on white sturgeon in the Lower Columbia River and, based on that update, directed staff to work with Washington to develop 2018 sturgeon retention seasons similar to last year.
