She faces six felony counts and one misdemeanor. Bail was set at $500,000 with a preliminary hearing or grand jury indictment for Monday, Oct. 9. She is charged with first-degree manslaugh- ter, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, felony strangulation, two counts of felony hit and run and driv- ing under the influence of in- toxicants. If convicted, Bar- nett faces more than 10 years in prison. Seaside police received a report of a woman being as- saulted about 9:15 p.m. Sat- urday. As officers arrived at the scene, a woman leaving the area in a silver Dodge Du- rango struck one of the police cars and continued driving, according to state police. As officers were looking for the vehicle, they came upon the bus stand in front of Mc- Oregon State Police Orange traffic cones and yellow tape mark off the area where two men waiting at a bus stop were struck. One of them, Hammond resident Robert Miles, died at the scene. Donald’s, which had been de- molished, and found the two men struck by a car. The vehicle had continued north on Roosevelt/High- way 101 and jumped another sidewalk, coming to rest after hitting a lamppost. The driver, later identified as Barnett, was walking away from the scene as police ar- rived. Witnesses identified her as the driver and she was arrested. Barnett was treated for minor injuries at CMH and released to police custody a short time later. ‘BloodyVox’ is ghoulish fun for the whole family A dance troupe that special- izes in unusual body move- ment will present BloodyVox, a dance/theater experience that plays off a Friday the 13 theme. It will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Liberty Theater, 1203 Commercial St. Admission is $20 to $35 with reserved seating. BodyVox, an artistic troupe based in Portland, describe it this way: “Spend a spooky Friday the 13th in one of As- toria’s most famously haunt- ed places. Start with a group of beautiful and talented dancers, add a hint of Hitch- cock, a touch of vampire, top it off with a healthy dose of ghosts and zombies and you get BloodyVox.” The experience uses cine- ma, folklore and nightmares for inspiration. While it’s creepy, children are welcome in section C for $5. Tickets are available online at www.libertyastoria.org or at the box office.
