FRIDAY-SATURDAY, JUNE 8-9 ’62 Days celebration • Canyon City The annual event, hosted by the Whiskey Gulch Gang, commemorates the discovery of gold in Canyon City on June 8, 1862. The parade, led by grand marshal Carl Lino, will take place at 11 a.m. on June 9, with a barbecue to follow. The parade will include dance performances by the Portland Lee’s Association Dragon & Lion Dance Team. A variety of vendors will be present, and activities include the Gold Rush Run/Walk, an ice cream social, bed races, kids games and contests and a hanging reenactment. F.C. Sels Brewery will feature live music by Copper Ridge. Quilt show • Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. • Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Grant County Fairgrounds Trowbridge Pavilion The Grant County Piecemakers Quilting Guild presents the 18th annual quilt show, featuring “Quilts of Valor,” patri- otic quilts made for veterans. Several vendors for shopping will be available. There will be food, door prizes, special awards and a raffle for a quilt drawing. The cost of admission is $5 for both days. A $20 workshop on quilting a woven star takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
