Daddys and daughters disco at Elks ballroom Blue Mountain Eagle There were 102 daughters with 81 dads or father figures dancing to a groovy “Night to Disco” theme at the eighth an- nual daddy-daughter dance. The Feb. 9 dinner and dance, sponsored by the John Day-Canyon City Parks and Recreation department, was held at John Day Elks Lodge 1824. “It was another fun-filled evening with lots of dancers and excited girls,” said Parks and Rec office manager Kim- berly Ward. “I was really im- pressed with the dads. They were either dressed to the nines or decked out in disco attire. ... It was a magical night.” Ward had help from pro- gram manager Bobbee Huec- kman organizing the event. Chris Gibson was the DJ and Tanni Wenger Photography Studio provided a photo for each couple or group to take home. The deadline for What’s Happening items is 5 p.m. Friday.
