There were 102 daughters
with 81 dads or father figures
dancing to a groovy “Night to
Disco” theme at the eighth an-
nual daddy-daughter dance.
The Feb. 9 dinner and
dance, sponsored by the John
Day-Canyon City Parks and
Recreation department, was
held at John Day Elks Lodge
1824.
“It was another fun-filled
evening with lots of dancers
and excited girls,” said Parks
and Rec office manager Kim-
berly Ward. “I was really im-
pressed with the dads. They
were either dressed to the nines
or decked out in disco attire. ...
It was a magical night.”
Ward had help from pro-
gram manager Bobbee Huec-
kman organizing the event.

each couple or group to take
home.

High school art exhibition opening reception

• 6-8 p.m., Nightingale Gallery in Loso Hall at Eastern Ore-
gon University in La Grande
A reception with an awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. will
be held for the Eastern Oregon Regional High School Exhi-
bition. Students from Grant Union, Prairie City, Baker City,
Burns, Burnt River, Crane Union, Echo, Enterprise, Joseph, La
Grande, North Powder, Pendleton, Union, Vale and Wallowa
are participating. The exhibition runs from Feb. 23 to March 21.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

day evenings over a two-week period. Each class lasts two
to two-and-a-half hours. A field day live shoot is planned for

tion

An introductory session will be held for women interested
in attending the Women of the 14th Moon ceremony taking
place near Madras on May 19. The introduction will explain
the origin of the ceremony and is presented by Lee Hay, one
