He explains in the song that shortly after his father’s death, his moth- er found herself constantly followed by a hawk. “We hardly ever see any hawks. If you do they’re just passing through, but this one decided to stick around,” Ned said. “I always believe he’s still here.” Singer Melissa Mick- elson opened for LeDoux with a number of her own songs as well as cover of tracks including Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” and Credence Clearwater’s “Bad Moon Rising.” After her set, Mickelson came down into the crowd to take pictures with fans and chat. ry, another participant in Sat- urday’s event, said he has been bullfighting since he was 12. His father has been a professional bullfighter for 35 years, he said. “It just kind of runs in the blood,” Barry said. “It’s just something that I love to do and love to watch.” While he does wear armor when he goes into the arena, the padded vest, ankle braces and girdle Barry uses are less than most wear. He leaves off the knee braces others wear because he can move more freely with- out them, he said. Despite the pads, Barry has sustained injuries. Last year he broke his tibia and fibia, which needed 12 screws and a plate to heal. He was back in the arena in eight months. “It’s just an adrenaline rush Eagle photos/Rylan Boggs you can’t get from anything else Justin Josey taunts a bull by placing his hat on its head during a bullfight at the in the world,” he said.
