O BITUARIES Seth Logan Blakeslee July 13, 1996 - June 18, 2016 Seth Logan Blakeslee, 19, of Mon- ument passed away on Saturday, June 18, in Monument. A memorial service was held Saturday, June 25, at the Monument school gymnasium. Seth was born on July 13, 1996, in John Day to Larry Blakeslee and Sandy Corley. He graduated from Monument High School in 2014. He had been working as a fi ber-optic cable installer. He enjoyed basketball and oth- er sports, fi shing, hunting, spending time with his family and friends and his dog, Charlie. Seth did well in school. He was the salutatorian of his class and received the Presidents Education Award for outstanding academic achievement. He played in the Senior All Star bas- ketball tournament and was a member of the fi rst Monument robotics team to go to state. Seth was here for a short time but left a large footprint. He truly enjoyed life. He is survived by his father, Larry Blakeslee of Dixie, Wash- ington; mother, Sandy Corley of Monument; his brother and best friend, Colten Blakeslee of Monument; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Richard ‘Dick’ Miller Sept. 8, 1941 - June 15, 2016 G RANT U NION S TUDENTS OF THE M ONTH — M AY Abby Lusco Grade 7 Parents: Andy and Angie Lusco Wednesday, June 29, 2016 Reading at library wins youngster $1,000 Richard William “Dick” Miller, 74, of John Day passed away on June 15, 2016, in Condon. Miller was born in Portland to Arlene Marie (Adams) Miller and Herman Di- etrich Miller on Sept. 8, 1941. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 1959, which was the fi rst four-year class at the school. He was a dedicated salesman with Westinghouse for 25 years before his retirement. In his retirement, Miller enjoyed playing with his grandchil- dren, traveling and taking in the peace of their cabin that he built with his wife and sons in the area surrounding John Day. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane (Washam) Miller; his children, Joseph Miller and wife Elizabeth, Jona- than Bauder and wife Meri Jo, Dietrick Miller and wife Tania, James Miller, Marie Davol and husband Ben; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother Lee Miller of Wenatchee, Washington. He will be fondly remembered for his love, reli- ability, his willingness to lend a hand whenever any- one needed it, as well as his passion for science and history. Christina Lynn Long Christina Lynn Long, 39, of Haines died June 20 near Haines. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S.
