Seth Logan Blakeslee
July 13, 1996 - June 18, 2016
Seth Logan Blakeslee, 19, of Mon-
ument passed away on Saturday, June
18, in Monument. A memorial service
was held Saturday, June 25, at the
Monument school gymnasium.
Seth was born on July 13, 1996, in
John Day to Larry Blakeslee and Sandy
Corley. He graduated from Monument
High School in 2014. He had been
working as a fi ber-optic cable installer.
He enjoyed basketball and oth-
er sports, fi shing, hunting, spending time with his family and
friends and his dog, Charlie.
Seth did well in school. He was the salutatorian of his class
and received the Presidents Education Award for outstanding
academic achievement. He played in the Senior All Star bas-
ketball tournament and was a member of the fi rst Monument
robotics team to go to state.
Seth was here for a short time but left a large footprint. He
truly enjoyed life.
He is survived by his father, Larry Blakeslee of Dixie, Wash-
ington; mother, Sandy Corley of Monument; his brother and
best friend, Colten Blakeslee of Monument; and numerous
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Contributions may be made to the Seth Blakelsee Memori-
al Fund through the Bank of Eastern Oregon, account number
5200510773. Arrangements are under the care of Driskill Me-
morial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
Does this photo belong to you? The photo, dated
October 1932, was found recently at Prairie City’s
City Hall. City Recorder Taci Philbrook said it
was in a file of old newsletters the city used
to publish. It is likely a class from Prairie City
School. Handwritten names listed are: back row,
from left, Bob Hall, Alvan Bogue, Ivan Brandon,
Walter Fisk, Merle Collins, Blanchard Cline,
Woodrow Mack and Sam Eccles; middle row,
Carol Cook, Marian Anderson, Alice Hardy, John
Claflin, Almon Gillette, Tea (?) Campbell, Henry
Brooks and Mary Maddox; front row, Norma
Moore, Virginia Kimberling, Norma Martyn, Violet
Mowers, Joan Hunter, Murel Bogue, Maxine
Hankins, Madeline Bates, Margurite Calhoun and
advisor Julia Brauninger. Philbrook said Claflin’s
name is written on himself, so it’s possible it was
his photo. Anyone with any information should
call Prairie City’s City Hall, 541-820-3605.
