It was very exciting! Both our girls’ and boys’ teams Soo Yukawa lost to Crane but they sure played really hard and well. Before I came here to Monument, I never went to a high school basketball game in my life. I know, I really lived under a rock. I luckily had someone sitting close by me to explain why someone fouled, and why the refs called and blew the whistle on someone. My family and I pigged out on all the concession stand goodies like the maple bars, pretzels and popcorn. The FFA was there also, selling yummy chicken enchiladas, beans and rice. The Tigers will have another home game next week on Saturday here in Monument. Let’s see, our great chefs, Terry Cade and Carrie Jewell, made sweet and sour chicken, rice, fresh and delicious salad and a fruit cobbler for our Jan. 19 lunch. Our greeters were Bob Blakeslee, Bodean Andersen, and Jimmy Cole. Bob led the flag salute while Bodean made the announcements and prayed the blessing over our meal. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith ... may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” Ron Dowse wanted us to know that there will be a Pancake Dinner in Mt. Vernon at the Grange in March. The cost will be $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 12. I will let you know the exact date later because I can’t recall at the moment and I forgot to write it down. Senior moment I guess, no pun intended. Ha. On Wednesday Jan. 27, there will be a foot clinic here at the Senior Center. The cost is $35 and they will be here the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. Bingo night is Saturday, Jan. 30. The games will start at 6 p.m. We will be sharing a potluck meal. You never know, you might be a big winner so come join us! I hope I will have a relaxing week this week. I don’t really feel like doing much. I might just do some light cleaning and some laundry. I will take it easy. I know when my body is tired and I will be sensitive to listen and not push myself too hard. I know my limits. That was one good thing I could do and that was to be able to say, “No.” I had no problem telling my friends “No” if I didn’t think I had the energy or time to do something. It saved me a lot of grief and guilt. Hope everyone has a great week and see you all again in February! Yeah, I know, February already? 2 Thessalonians 1:4-5 “So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.” Elliott second in Bull Boogie REDMOND — Dustin Elliott rang in the new year in impressive fashion win- ning the short go-round at the annual Buckin’ Bulls and Boogie Professional Bull Riders challenge event at the Deschutes Count fairgrounds New Year’s Eve.
