His latest stunt is an attempt to supersede the County Com- mission’s role in coordination with the Forest Service. We have numerous reasons for our opposition but here are the obvious ones: 1) Glenn, you and your “deputies” may be nice peo- ple but you certainly do not represent us, the majority owners of the Malheur. No one on your group can repre- sent Martha, the retired school teacher who lives in Miami; or Bob the Wall Street banker. Certainly you don’t represent Evan the hard core environ- mentalist from Portland or Walter the retired janitor from South Carolina, who will nev- er visit the Malheur but likes to know it is there. We all own exactly the same amount of the National Forest as you do, no more-no less. 2) Glenn, the National Forest Management Act and the National Environmental Policy Act require that Forest Plans and project plans be de- veloped in an interdisciplinary manner. It certainly appears that your planning team of “deputies” is heavy on graz- ing and timber knowledge but inadequate in the other Wednesday, October 21, 2015 A5 found dead of an unknown cause. They in turn have provided legislation, policy, direction and budgets to the Forest Service. It is not a perfect system, but it is one the majority of us can accept. Glenn, we have not given you authority to act on our behalf. 4) The citizens of Grant County elected you to be a 3HDFH2I¿FHU3OHDVHJREDFN to keeping the peace.
