Information leading to conviction of
trespassers and/or poachers on Silvies Valley Ranch
$2,500

REWARD
Approximately the first of September, a nice mule deer buck was killed
and left to rot on our ranch. Last year, four poachers were caught and
prosecuted, and four other dead elk were found rotting. Please help us
catch trespassers and poachers who have no respect for private property
rights and who give all hunters a bad name. If you legally wound an ani-
mal that comes onto any of our property, please come to ranch headquar-
ters at Bridge Creek and we will help you find and clean it at no charge.
Otherwise, do not go onto our property unless accompanied by a Silvies
Valley Ranch associate. We will press charges, sue for damages, and are
actively patrolling our property with ATVs, by horseback, and videocams.

There are reasons
for opposition
To the Editor:
We, the 325 million ma-
jority owners of the Malheur
National Forest, wish to ex-
press our opposition to Glenn
Palmer’s continued attempts
at bullying the Forest Service.
His latest stunt is an attempt
to supersede the County Com-
mission’s role in coordination
with the Forest Service. We
have numerous reasons for
our opposition but here are the
obvious ones:
1) Glenn, you and your
“deputies” may be nice peo-
ple but you certainly do not
represent us, the majority
owners of the Malheur. No
one on your group can repre-
sent Martha, the retired school
teacher who lives in Miami;
or Bob the Wall Street banker.
Certainly you don’t represent
Evan the hard core environ-
mentalist from Portland or
Walter the retired janitor from
South Carolina, who will nev-
er visit the Malheur but likes
to know it is there. We all own
exactly the same amount of
the National Forest as you do,
no more-no less.
2) Glenn, the National
Forest Management Act and
the National Environmental
Policy Act require that Forest
Plans and project plans be de-
veloped in an interdisciplinary
manner. It certainly appears
that your planning team of
“deputies” is heavy on graz-
ing and timber knowledge

their investigation in that case,
saying they didn’t have prob-
able cause to say the deaths
were due to human action and
that the cause of death couldn’t
be determined because the car-
casses had deteriorated.
State police said the wolf

3) For over 100 years, we
have elected to Congress men
and women and Presidents
of all political persuasions
to represent us. They in turn
have provided legislation,
policy, direction and budgets
to the Forest Service. It is not
a perfect system, but it is one
the majority of us can accept.
Glenn, we have not given you
