On the tables were a selection of ceramic centerpieces representing the different holidays/seasons GXULQJ WKH \HDU VQRZÀDNH OL]DUGVFDUHFURZZLWFKÀDJ Santa and cute calico piggy EDQNV SOXV WKH 0DUFK KDUH 7KH QDSNLQV KDG WKH VDPH theme. The set-up crew put the plate settings out correctly, but then “someone” had fun – the plate was turned upside GRZQ RYHU WKH ÀDWZDUH DQG on top was a cup of caramel FRUQ DQG D FKRFRODWH WUXIÀH You were supposed to eat des- VHUW¿UVW Then came the meal: EUHDNIDVW :H KDG RUDQJH juice and orange slices, scrambled eggs, hash browns, KDP SDQFDNHV DQG ¿QDOO\ D “cereal bowl” made out of a hollowed-out chocolate muf- ¿QZLWKLFHFUHDPWRSSHGE\ Fruit Loops for “dessert.” It ZDV DOO GHOLFLRXV7KH FRRNV had fun designing all this for April Fool’s Day. There were 83 names on WKH UHJLVWUDWLRQ ERRN 7KH Blue Mountain Care Cen- ter ladies, Lorna and Patty, brought Dorothy Blasing, Lois Hill, Darrell Pierce and Robert Riddell. %X]] OHG WKH ÀDJ VDOXWH DQG -DFN 5HWKHUIRUG DVNHG the blessing. Nadine Smith won the $5 in trade from Prairie Hardware & Gifts. Our servers included Gary Jacobson, Marlene Greear, Sandi Rennels, JoAnn Phip- pen, Donna Adams, and El- mer Gill helped out, too. All I could say was, “Wow.” Ron Dowse announced that during a genealogy search, he discovered his mother was UHODWHG WR WKH QDPHVDNH RI D street in town – the one our center is on: McHaley. Nancy Viggers had a story about the builder of the houses across the fence and street from her: Bradford. But I was still in VKRFN DERXW WKH JUDQGV and greats so I can’t quite remember it. Maybe next ZHHN +HU JUDQGNLGV ZLOO EH here, then. Kathy Cancilla, from 5HJLRQDO +HDOWKFDUH :RUN- shops, invited everyone to VLJQ XS IRU WKH QH[W ZRUN- shop on April 20 at John Day Senior Center. The People Mover will offer free trans- portation, and you get a free OXQFK WRR 7KH ZRUNVKRSV deal with health issues and resolutions for them. I cannot em- phasize enough how grateful I am for our meals on Tuesdays. Our greeters were Bob %ODNHVOHH DQG %RGHDQ $QGHU- VRQ%REOHGWKHÀDJVDOXWHDQG Bodean prayed the blessing over our meal. Linda Abraham won the Chester’s Thriftway gift card, Ellen Lucas won the Len’s Drug one, and Carolyn Trujillo won a free meal. Car- olyn Trujillo had guests visiting from out of town – her broth- er Royce Dotson from Prairie City, cousin Carolyn Binam from Prineville, and her daugh- ter Petra Moser from Acton, Calif. Debbie Reid made an an- nouncement wanting to share some plants with the commu- nity.
