OCTOBER S, 11 SUBSCBHTION BATES Owe Yeas a-00 Six BtaatBe I0 Tkf,.MMd. .... New Road Building Equipment for County iii Road Master Faulkner took the manager of this paper nut the other day to see the new road srrarter at work and to inspect the equipment that has recently been installed. The piece of work then being done was one to test the fitness of the machinery and it was accomplishing many times more during the afternoon than the old way of grading, The county court has been casting about to see how . more road work could be accomplished with the money available and it would appear they have accom plished the purpose by securing the new equipment. The new machinery consists of a bisr Avery tractor, elevating jrrador, push grader and a ripper or seat ifer. This is all arranged to work upon one base and therefore convenient and moat compact. There has been a demand upon the court for more road funds as the usual levy of some $20 000 was not sufficient to cover as much territory as required, but with this new equipment it is pos sible to cover five to seven times as much territory as the former way therefore the same levy will give us what would equal $100, 000 under the system that has been followed. The machinery seems to be (riving Reed satisfaction and while it will not be in use long this season it will demonstrate its economy next year and give this big county better roads and more of them than in the past. The road question has become a problem in this big county and it was necessary to get more mod ern equipment. This move will no doubt prove a good invest ment and the court will receive commendation. Notice To Stockholders. Msrsden was mar ried lsst Saturday afternoon in Portland to Miss Emily Petrain. The wedding was intended to be s surprise to all his friends, his mother was not even to share in the secret until later, but an automobile accident immediately following the ceremony in which George took part in rescuing some unfortunates who were hurt spoiled the secret ss the papers published it and thus his friends in Burns were wise. Hs sent a telegram to his mother, however 'and she was guarding the secret but to no avail after the papers arrived. George and his bride arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Biggs just north of this city Thursday evening where they joined his mother and ex pect to leave today for the Bear Valley ranch where they will make their home, Mrs. Marsden was most happy in telling The Times-Herald of the arrival of her son and new daugher over the phone and we are sure the many old tints friends of the family are just as happy over the event and ex press their best wishes for a Delightful Evening of Music I man, whose name is unknown by ye scribe, north or Hheepheaa W.
