Prof. Powers was making a map of the agricultural area of this project for the government Died -Sunday at the Cummins hospital, Ines Fanny Ransom, aged 9 years. The cause of death is given as tubercular pneu monia. The little one has been ill for several months. She is survived by her parents and three brothers, all of whom re side on Silver creek. The funer al was conducted Monday after noon by Rey. Dr. Benson of the Presbyterian church. Hans Nelson went to Canyon Monday and upon bis return was accompanied by Miss Bertha Williams who is here to visit for a short time with relatives and old time friends. The young lady had been stationed at La Grande in the hospital there for several months but is going to go direct to Portland from here where she has a position as trained nurse. The foot ball team of Harney County High School took their departure yesterday afternoon for John Day where they play against the high school team to day. The boys were accompani ed by Principal Shirk and Agri cultural Instructor Petrie. Sev eral class mates and friends also accompanied the party. Game Warden Triska, Neil Smith. Dr. J. Shelley Saurman and his guest, Dr. McCool, made up a party of deer hunters to go to the Stein's Mountain section the fore part of this week. The two latter are going after deer particularly but Mr. Triska and Mr. Smith are going tp penetrate the game preserve in that terri tory in search of mountain beep, the state game board having ask ed that an effort be made to locate some of these animals if possible. Mrs. Ollie Robinson arrived home from Portland last Monduy night. She went down on ac count of the illness of her little son, Nick, who was reported as being aillictcd with big jaw. Mrs. Robinson states his physi cians are now confident it is not the disease as frequently seen among cattle, but frankly admit they do not know exactly what the ailment is. The abscess has not healed and there is a hard substance which is not adhered to the bone. They assured the mother that he would recover, however. Mis. Robinson came home by way of Washington in order to visit her daughter, Mrs. J, C. Sevcik whom she found living with u neighbor, their farm home having burned just a short time before her arrival. They were taking their loss in a philosophically way, even though they had lost their entire house hold goods including many keep sakes, etc. Oregon. Mr. Williams has made many friends and done good work by his plain and sane preaching. 'I'lii- revival meeting opens in Rye Crass this week. A young peoples society will be formed this week. Our church is more enthusias than ever. They know that no thing succeeds like success. The selection rendered by Mrs. Dodge's orchestra was received with appluuse last Sunday night. Harney is a new outstation. preaching services will be held there every first and third Sun day ut 3 p. m. Preaching services next Sun day as usual.
