The Audcrson-Puett and the Orcutt Keisdorfer irrigation ditches are suffering with the rest, and arc en tirely dry. Great quantities of fruit arc go ing to waste in the Bend country, due to the fact that the people arc not aware that a certain wild berry is quite cdjblc. This berry ' !s known locally as the "coyote- ber ry," and grows in great profusion along the river, Dr. Scoficld is the man who discovered its usefulness. One day he deckled to gather a few 1 of these berries aud bee if they were good for anything. Mrs. Scofleld gave them a trial with the ! result that it was found they make: very fine jelly. Since then the) doctor and several of his friends , have gathered large amounts of these berries and their wives arej storing away jelly for winter use. ( I he coyote berry grows on a low bush and is about the size and color of the ordinary red currant.
