called attention to the need of better
and more adequate fire protection at
the public and high schools in this
city and the fire of a week n o em
phasises the importance of this need
at this time. I, myself, hare often
felt that at both buildings there
should be some arrangement where
by the'children could get out of the
building In case the ordinary exits
were blocked by fire. I believe that
the people of New berg could not
spend their money any better than
to install at both schools either suit
able fire escapes or chutes so that
the children could be rushed, out if
the fire started in such a place that
they could not get out of their reg-

ute or more. They are trained so
