The community refrrets their going extremely, and wishes them all fu ture success in their new location. The funeral of G. N. Hollister was held at the church Monday after noon. Mr. Hollister passed away Saturday morning after being 111 sev eral montha. He was born In 1944 In Morrisburg. Ontario, and leaves a wife who makes her home with an only daughter. Mrs. F. D. It Is admitted by all medi cal men that ltobacco is harmful both to body and mind, consequently it is Indirectly bad on the morals. In the past civilised nations have trained up their armies In every way poesible. and then destroyed all the good they have done by allow ing the men to indulge in liquor. We have risen a little above this point, but only a very little, by tak ing liquor away, but we still retain his near relative and partner in crime. One of the complaints against the Y. M. C. A. during the recent war has been Its attitude on the tobacco question. ’ Tobacco belongs to that claaa of stimulants that do mero harm than good as a rule. I f the Y, M. C. A. is Justified In handling it, then why not dish out to the sol diers liquor, opium, etc.? The only reason ons is allowed while the others are prohibited is the fact that public sentiment has n6t reached the point where it is ready to put all this class of evils under the ban. It took a long time to aee the neces sity for banishing liquor from our armies, and it Is going to be the same with tobacco, but It U bound to come. The only reason tobacco is per mitted in the army is the fact that a large portion of the men want it. It would seem, therefore, that It Is up to the nation to find a harmless substitute, if possible, and if it can not he found, then we must wage a campaign of education that will show its evil effects until public sentiment will no longer permit its UM.
