G or don: Action for $1000 dam age On Tuesday a number o f families of the Red Hills w h o felt able to devote a day to pleasure just before the rush o f w ork in pears, hops, apples and prunes, assembled in the Allan grove for an old fashioned basket picnic. T o say that the long table, large enough for all t o be seated at once, groaned under its w eight o f goodies, is statin g it mildly. Never w as a more varied bill o f fare displayed in these hills and never a happier crow d to enjoy it. Gallons o f ice cream were made on the spot and no notice taken o f repeaters. About four o ’clock watermelon, more ice cream and cake were served and all present were able to enjoy the second spread, except one wee girlie whose capacity had not quite matched her appetite. The groaning o f the table w as noth ing compared w ith those o f m ost o! the grow n ups the next morn ing when, in their efforts to get out o f bed, tbeir muscles ga ve reminders o f the exciting games of duck-on-the-rock, hop scotch, etc. participated in by nearly all present. One little boy remarked, *T had the best tim e I ever had a t a picnic” and his enthusiastic remark m ight be echoed by dozens o f others.
